Module 3: Emotions
“We don’t take action to get results. We take action because of how we think we will feel when we have the result.”
Why Are Emotions So Important
Emotions are how we get results.
Actions are just math – movement through space and time.
It is the emotions that drives us to act (or not act).
The Beta Condition is based in fear and survival.
The Beta Condition wants to keep us in the cave.
It says, “Don’t go out into the hostile, unknown environment.”
The Beta Condition naturally runs thoughts that create fear.
Fear of failure, rejection, and embarrassment.
Fear is created in thought, not in result.
It is because we feel these emotions created by the thoughts of the Beta Condition that we fail to act and produce unwanted results.
The link in The Model between cognition (thought) and results (our life) is emotion and action.
When we choose the emotion we want to feel, we take the actions we want to take.
There is an important factor in managing our mind and emotions to get the results we want in life.
BELIEF!
It isn’t enough to just ‘think positively’ or ‘think your way into results’.
You have to believe the thoughts you think in order to get the emotional response.
Emotions are chemicals, they are measurable and observable.
They are not created by thinking alone.
They are created when you BELIEVE your thoughts are TRUE.
Watch the video below for a further explanation of how emotions create results (Alpha) and not the other way around (Beta), the power of belief, and examples of how belief is the gateway to creating the emotions to need to get the results you want.

Self-Study Assignment for Module 3, Day 2
In your notebook, do a thought download every day this week. For this week, start with a specific circumstance to do your thought download on. It can be anything that is a circumstance – it must be neutral and objective. It can be what someone said or did, something that happened in the past, or something that is happening now (it’s raining outside or your current body weight). Do a model for two of the thoughts in your download.
In your notebook, answer the questions and reflect on your answers:
What is the difference between a thought and a belief?
When does a thought become a belief for you?
How do you know when a thought becomes a belief?
Do you believe you need evidence for a thought to become a belief?
Do you need a result before you can believe in a thought?
Can you think of a time when you believed something that wasn’t true?
Do you believe in things now that aren’t proven or that you are taking on a matter of faith?
Why do you believe these things without evidence?
What makes them different and believable for you?
Are these beliefs a result of thinking the same thought over and over?
How many times do you think you need to think a thought before it becomes a belief and you have a emotional response to it?
Can you think of a time you’ve had an emotional response to a new thought?
Why or why not?
Do you believe it is possible for you to believe hard things quickly?
Why or why not?
