Separating Thoughts From Facts
Learning to discern a thought from a fact is the most powerful shift from the Beta Condition to the Alpha State.
Facts (circumstances) are objective, they are out of our control, and they are neutral.
Thoughts are subjective, they are 100% a choice, and they are how we judge the world (good/bad, right/wrong, better/worse).
All problems are thoughts. There is no problem that is not a thought.
It is our thoughts that create suffering in our lives. Facts do not and can not create suffering.
Facts are always ‘what is’; thoughts are ‘what we want things to be’.

Self-Study Assignment for Module 1, Day 5
A thought download is a practice to expose the Beta Condition and see it in front of you on paper. Meditation is a way to watch the Beta Condition and listen to your thoughts. The thought download is a way to see your thoughts in front of you. It gets them out of your brain and into the world.
In your notebook, start doing a thought download every day.
Spend 5-10 minutes with a thought download and fill up an entire page (keep writing until you have filled the page). Be the watcher of your thoughts and write down everything. Don’t filter yourself, don’t think about what you’re writing, just write it. There is a great deal of power in ‘seeing’ your mind on paper rather than seeing it in your brain. After you have filled the page, go back through and mark a T or a F next to each sentence you wrote. The T is for if it’s a thought and an F is for if it’s a fact.
You will do this every day until the end of the course. Separating thoughts from facts is the most powerful way to begin re-wiring your brain to see things the way they are instead of the way you think they are. Get your thought onto paper every day and separate the thoughts from the facts without censoring yourself. Write everything in your brain, without hesitation.
